Global English College is a relatively new English language provider having opened its doors to students in July 2009. We are located only three minutes walk from Sydney's Central Station - an ideal location for students whether they commute form the city suburbs or live in Sydney 's CBD.
At Global English College we deliver an General English Course to prepare students for conversation, everyday situations and daily interactions that take place when travelling or living in an English speaking country. Students practise listening, reading, writing and speaking skills every week in an interactive environment where they are encouraged to speak English at all times.
Our students come form a wide range of countries including Korea , Thailand , China , Nepal , India and a number of European countries. This exposes our students to an enriching educational experience by exposing them to a wide range of cultures, life experiences and value systems.
Many international students plan to commence and continue some form of professional studies when they have completed their English language training. The General English course is,therefore,designed to have an academic emphasis whereby students encounter a range of text types and writing genres that they would be expected to manage while undertaking professional studies.
At Global English College,student assessment and progress monitoring is an integral part of any course of study. Students are assessed on the four macroskills, reading , writing, speaking & listening, every two weeks. Students also receive a monthly progress report to allow them to track their individual progress through the duration of their English studies. On completion of their course, students receive a graduation certificate which outlines their current English proficiency level in each of the four macroskills.
Global English College has an extensive range of self study resources and teachers will provide students with assistance in choosing the materials best suited to students' individual learning needs. Students are encouraged to use the student resource library for self-study.
Global English College currently offers - General English Course at Beginner to Advanced levels. In response to student demand, the full-time 20 hour course is run over four days, Monday to Thursday, starting at 9.00 am and finishing at 2.45 pm.
Global English College is seeking accreditation to run an IELTS Preparation course and an English for Academic Purposes course. When in place, these two course options will provide students with an English assessment recognized for entry into a wide range of further study options both at vocational and higher education levels.
