Student Accommodation - General Information
At Global English College we recommend that students have one month of accommodation arranged before they arrive in Australia. We can organize 2 types of accommodation for students:
- Homestay accommodation – students stay with an Australian family
- Student accommodation – for students who prefer to be more independent
Home stay accommodation
Students can stay with a family to experience Australian lifestyle and to practise speaking English day-to-day. Breakfast and evening meals are provided, and lunch on weekends. We recommend homestay accommodation for younger students and for students who are coming to Australia for the first time. Allow 30 – 40 minutes travel time to school by public transport.
If you would like to stay with an Australian family, we can organise it for you. You will find out all about all your potential families details once all booking details have been confirmed. When you arrive your host family will help you settle into life in Australia and show you how to get to Global College. If you would like to see for yourself where the homestay is in comparison to Global visit the following website www.whereis.com and to see how to get from your homestay to school visit the website www.131500.com in Sydney
Student accommodation
We offer this form of accommodation at a range of rental costs. All are near public transport. We suggest that students initially book for 4 weeks. Then, after you are settled, you may consider alternative accommodation. There are 3 types – student housing, backpackers and lodges/guesthouses.
- Student housing: Best for students, with clothes storage, internet facilities, a desk and a quiet environment to study
- Backpackers: More suited for the short term. Cheap and well located, can be very social with lots of activities
- Lodges/guest houses: Smaller rooms, more homely, may have limited cooking facilities
We can book accommodation for you when we have received your flight details and a booking fee. You can book through us or directly. Prices in the following are a guide only and are subject to change.
